Am guessing it will return my system to what it was in 2007. Sony then suggested that I use the F10 key at startup and go into the VAIO Recovery Environment and recover the system. I also searched for recdisc and recover files and they are both in the systems folder. In the followup e-mail Sony had me check in C:\Program Files\Sony\VAIO Recovery- to see if it is missing and it is not listed on the C: drive. I am leary of just going ahead and doing the uninstall because I don't know what else may happen if I go this route. Works go ahead and make the Recovery Disks, then re-install Windows Vista Service Pack 2. Problem: the Sony VAIO Help and Support application on my computer has a "Launch System Recovery Center" link that would take me to the application where I could make the system recovery disk, but clicking on the link does nothing, so I have no (easy) way Goal: I just want to create an external disk from the factory installed system recovery partition on my hard drive so I have it in case I ever need to reinstall Vista and return my PC operating system to its original factory condition. So no installation disks and no recovery disk. Later updated by Windows with service pack 2. Configuration: Sony VAIO Laptop purchased new with factorypre-installed Vista Home Premium 32bit.
