Danielle Steel brilliantly explores the collision of a shocking crime with the ordinary lives of its victims in a novel that mesmerizes from start to finish. Racing against time in the underbelly of the criminal world, buffeted by the dark side of power, and unmoored by loss and betrayal, no one can predict where this tragedy will take them. Fernanda must draw on a strength she never knew she had. A man of unshakable integrity, Lee will soon become the one person who tries to save Fernanda’s family from a terrifying fate. She simply couldn’t imagine a greater loss, until a devastating crime rocks her family to its core-and brings Detective Ted Lee into her life. For Fernanda, whose life had once been graced by beautiful homes, security, success, and stunning wealth, the death of her brilliant, brooding husband was already too much to bear. Within weeks, the lives of these four people will collide in ways none of them could have foreseen. Four months after her husband’s death, Fernanda Barnes faces a mountain of debt she cannot repay, a world destroyed, and a marriage lost. Across town, in an exclusive Pacific Heights neighborhood, a mother tries to shield her three children from the panic rising within her. That night, three hundred miles south in San Francisco, police detective Ted Lee comes home to a silent house for twenty-nine years, he has been living for his job-and slowly falling out of love with his wife. Simultaneously, Carl Waters, a convicted murderer, is set on the path of freedom with him. Outside the gates of a California prison, Peter Morgan is released after four long years and vows to redeem himself in the eyes of the young daughters he left behind.

![]() All I really want is to have external Recovery disks just That seems pretty drastic when I am not having issues with my computer now. ![]() "Some data may be lost" they say.Īt this point I think I should not perform a System Recovery. Am guessing it will return my system to what it was in 2007. Sony then suggested that I use the F10 key at startup and go into the VAIO Recovery Environment and recover the system. I also searched for recdisc and recover files and they are both in the systems folder. In the followup e-mail Sony had me check in C:\Program Files\Sony\VAIO Recovery- to see if it is missing and it is not listed on the C: drive. I am leary of just going ahead and doing the uninstall because I don't know what else may happen if I go this route. ( My computer System Properties says I do have Vista Home Premium I looked in my computer's Windows Updates and did not specifically see service pack "2" there but there is one called Service Pack for MS Windows KB948465 dated which could be it. Works go ahead and make the Recovery Disks, then re-install Windows Vista Service Pack 2. They said I could uninstall the Windows Vista Service Pack 2 update, then see if I can get into VAIO Recovery Center, and if it I contacted Sony and they first said that the old Windows Update Service Pack 2 did something to the original recdisc.exe program. So the partition for the system recovery is there. History: I ran Disk Management and there are two volumes, partitions on the HD which show as healthy. Of creating a Recovery Disk from the partition. Problem: the Sony VAIO Help and Support application on my computer has a "Launch System Recovery Center" link that would take me to the application where I could make the system recovery disk, but clicking on the link does nothing, so I have no (easy) way Goal: I just want to create an external disk from the factory installed system recovery partition on my hard drive so I have it in case I ever need to reinstall Vista and return my PC operating system to its original factory condition. So no installation disks and no recovery disk. Later updated by Windows with service pack 2. Configuration: Sony VAIO Laptop purchased new with factorypre-installed Vista Home Premium 32bit. ![]()
